SYNOPSIS
While some acetate reels are carefully cleaned, cataloged, stored in climate-controlled chambers, and made available for public access, others, stacked in storage rooms, wait silently for the light. Celebrated, censored, or thrown into the fire, films arouse passions. The journey of the tapes, as well as their contents, says a lot about the human experience in community, revealing situations of social hierarchy, power struggles, and colonialism. The documentary Lembrança focuses on people’s relationships with films to broaden the range of challenges in preserving memory.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Lembrança project is being developed with funds from Public Notice No. 03/2023 – BH nas Telas – Paulo Gustavo Edition. It participated in MAX LAB 2024, a training and mentoring program promoted by Sebrae and Bravi, and has been presented in markets and submitted to laboratories and funding calls.
